Program Director
Jeri Kessenich, MD, FAAP
Dr. Kessenich is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School. She completed her Pediatrics residency and fellowship years at U of M and Texas Children's Hospital. As an academic faculty member at the University of Chicago and Rush Medical College, she won numerous teaching awards between 1988 and 1995. She joined the teaching staff of DeVos Children's Hospital in 1995 and has won seven Teacher of the Year awards, as well as Michigan State University's Distinguished Pediatric Faculty Award. Her clinical interests include undergraduate and graduate medical education, general pediatrics and lead poisoning.
Associate Program Directors
Tim Conroy, MD, FAAP
Dr. Conroy is a graduate of Wayne State University Medical School, and completed his Pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan. After six years in private practice in Grand Rapids, he joined the teaching staff of DeVos Children's Hospital in 1992. He has won numerous Teacher of the Year awards there and is highly regarded as one of the best educators in the institution. His clinical interests include medical education, general pediatrics and special needs children.
Mike Metz, MD FAAP
Dr Metz is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his Pediatrics residency at Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center / Michigan State University at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital. After two years in private practice in Big Rapids, Michigan, he joined the Helen DeVos Pediatrics Clinic in 2005. He was won numerous awards for his dedication to teaching and currently is the faculty advisor for the board review series within the residency. His clinical interests include medical student and resident education, general pediatrics and asthma care.
