Transitional Year - Curriculum and Research

Curriculum

The program has been designed to provide a diversified core curriculum which allows the resident to learn responsibility for the primary management of patients with a wide variety of pathological conditions.

The Transitional Year Curriculum requires 24 weeks/6months of training in disciplines which provide fundamental clinical skills. Recognizing that individuals entering the program may desire exposure to areas not included in the core curriculum, the program offers elective rotations, which are tailored to meet the individual clinical needs and future interests of each resident.

Research

The Research Department of GRMERC has developed several tools and resources that will help residents and fellows develop ideas into manageable and realistic research projects. We have found that using these resources saves time and energy while avoiding typical pitfalls and dead ends. For example, the research project outline facilitates the translation of a good idea into a research project, provides the bulk of the narrative portion of IRB application, and serves as the guide for implementing the project.
