I have been involved in international medical relief activities for many years. In my leisure time, I enjoy musical pursuits and pretend that I can golf, but mostly love to spend time with my wife, our 8 children and 6 grandkids.

Teaching has always been in integral part of my professional life. I've been involved with medical education in some fashion for over 30 years, serving on the faculty of 2 medical schools and as program director for 2 palliative medicine fellowship programs. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am a practicing palliative physician, and also serve on the Advisory Committee for Pain and Symptom Management to the governor of the state of Michigan.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids...

West Michigan is a vibrant area for culture, education, environment and recreation, and as such has been a great place to live and raise a family. It has a sophisticated medical care system with excellent, state of the art health care resources. In all, it's a great place to live, practice, and play!

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids...

Grand Rapids is a delightful midsize city. It has a variety of downtown events and hotspots, as well as a very easy commute for residents living outside the city boundaries.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids...

I have lived in the Grand Rapids area since childhood and have worked in health care for 16 years, GME for 3 of those years. During this time, I have mainly worked with the Family Medicine, Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship and the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship. When I am not working, I enjoy being outdoors with my husband and 3 children - enjoying Michigan's lakes by boating, swimming, & fishing!
