I chose Grand Rapids for my training because I was thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of the up and coming Neurology program at GRMEP. I am excited be involved with a young program that will shape and tailor its curriculum around resident interests in real time! The incredible current faculty and residents also really made the program stand out to me. As a native from West Michigan, I am quite partial to the area! I love being close to the beach, and having a perfect sized downtown area to live in and enjoy.

The program's youth and size is very appealing to me. It is exciting to be a part of something new. The small class sizes allow for focused attention to the resident's teaching and guidance. A large portion of the west side of Michigan is serviced by Grand Rapid's Medical Education Partners; thus we are exposed to a wide variety of cases that are both routine and challenging. I am extremely confident that Grand Rapids will equip me in becoming a competent and trustworthy physician that my patients and community can rely on. I am a firm believer in going where the opportunity takes you. This program screamed opportunity. Grand Rapids has so much to do. There are great businesses, restaurants, shopping and entertainment.
I love to exercise, play the guitar, snowboard, read about various topics and spend time with family.
Neurology has many options, and they are all interesting. I will be open minded in my training and make an informed decision on which fellowship to pursue.

As a Grand Rapidian (born in Butterworth Hospitial), I witnessed first-hand the growth of the already top-notch healthcare systems of Spectrum Health and Mercy Health. Since high school (at Forest Hills Northern) it was my dream to become a Neurologist, so when I heard that GRMEP was launching a Neurology Residency Program I was very interested. When I visited and met the world-class physicians in Grand Rapids, I knew this was not an opportunity to miss. The curriculum and the clinical experience at GRMEP is second to none. Above all else, the commitment here to providing excellent and compassionate care for each and every patient is what ultimately sold me. What thrilling time to be practicing medicine in West Michigan!

I chose the neurology program at GRMEP because it's a brand new program. I'll be able to see the program grow and help shape it in these early stages. I'm also a huge fan of West Michigan and hope my years at this program will translate into opportunities in this area after graduation.

After finishing my medical school I was very interested in Neurology. I had a chance to work at NYU on Alzheimer's patients, but I am looking forward to explore other Neurology sub-specialties especially stroke and epilepsy.
I was born and raised in Latakia, Syria;a beautiful city on the east coast of the Mediterranean sea. Upon graduating from medical school I wanted to pursue my career in the US. I had decided to settle down in Grand Rapids, because it is very similar to my hometown. The people's hospitality and friendliness had also attracted me to come here.
When the white coat is off, I enjoy playing soccer as I used to play with a professional team in high school. I also play table tennis and I love reading poetry as well as history. Lastly, I am a big fan of Roger Federer and I enjoy watching his games.
