Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training
I rotated and eventually chose to match at Grand Rapids primarily because of the people involved in the program. The residents made me feel welcomed and it was easy to see how well everyone got along. The faculty were obviously involved in resident education, and treated the residents as valuable members of the team who have input in making changes to education and work schedules. The formal education also appeared comprehensive and showed through in the confidence of the residents. Lastly, the vast operative experience was apparent as residents navigated various procedures as the primary surgeon. The orthopaedics program at Grand Rapids has a great reputation, and I am confident it will give me every opportunity I will need to succeed.
