Hometown

Having visited the Grand Rapids area many times over the past few years, I quickly came to love the city's laid back culture and vibrant entertainment scene. Additionally, I found that the city and it's residents take great pride in their hospitals and their doctors. This is highlighted by the wonderful facilities that GRMEP is partnered with. These hospitals are some of the most state-of-the-art and beautiful facilities I came across in my medical training. Finally, everyone I met across the hospital system loved working in the GRMEP, and had wonderfully positive thing to say about working here.

I enjoy playing golf, soccer, rugby and kickball. I also enjoy many outdoor activities including hiking, camping, kayaking, and fly fishing.

Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

I chose Grand Rapids for my training because I felt like the clinical teaching environment was one that would foster my growth as a future medical practitioner and allow for a smooth and fruitful transition to my radiology residency at the same institution. The radiology faculty and residents were intelligent, kind, and supportive, and it felt like a team I wanted to be a part of. The city of Grand Rapids feels like a place I will be proud to call home, with its vibrant culture that is full of energy and enthusiasm that bears much resemblance to my hometown.

Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

I chose to complete my TY training in Grand Rapids for many reasons - but most of all, it was because of my perceived "fit" within this program. The faculty and staff are among the kindest and most supportive people I met on the interview trail, and they continue to be that wonderful now that we've all started our training here. The program coordinator and director are huge assets to this program - they are unyieldingly supportive, caring, and available to their residents. The GRMEP TY program has a variety of strong clinical training sites that allow for a diversity of experience within many different fields, and the flexibility GRMEP provides allows residents to choose a schedule that absolutely fits their interests. The location of GRMEP is also ideal - as there are few places more lovely to live than Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids is a vibrant, exciting city that always has things going on to keep you entertained. GR has the charm of a smaller town, an abundance of outdoor activities available being in beautiful West Michigan, and lively nightlife to keep people with all different interests busy.

Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

I chose this program for my training because I loved living in Grand Rapids during undergrad. The west side of Michigan is beautiful and Grand Rapids is a friendly and vibrant city that I am excited to be a part of for another year. I felt that the program emulated this feeling as well. I had heard that the attendings were passionate and approachable on top of being very knowledgeable, which makes training with GRMEP a wonderful experience. I am looking forward to both the education and beauty that Grand Rapids has to offer!

Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

Through my medical school clinical rotations in Grand Rapids I was able to meet and work with many of the outstanding attending physicians and residents at both Spectrum and Saint Mary's. I chose to continue my medical education in Grand Rapids because of the quality of teaching, the variety of pathology, and the patient population in the city.

Hobbies/what I do outside of work

Outside of work I love spending as much time as possible with my beautiful wife, Danielle. Food is one of our passions so the restaurant scene in Grand Rapids has been great. Whenever we can we're either watching or listening to the Detroit Tigers.
